TENNIS CHAMPIONS & CHALLENGERS - FUNDRAISING EVENT: 22/3/25

  • Our Goal - Raise Funds To Send 8 Ewell Castle Pupils To Compete At The World Championships

Eight talented Ewell Castle School Tennis Academy Scholars have been selected to represent England in April 2025 at the International School Sport Federation World Championships in Serbia.   We need to raise a minimum of £6,000 before April to pay for the team's travel and accommodation costs and we need your help to do this.

Sending eight pupils to compete in this international tournament is both an immense honour and a significant logistical challenge. The cost of making this dream a reality is substantial, we have already secured some sponsorship, but are looking for further contributions to help cover our consisderable travel expenses, so we are calling upon the generosity and support of the wider Ewell Castle community to ensure these young Ewell Castle athletes can proudly compete.

  • What are we doing?

Putting The Fun Into Fundraising.  We are organising a fun fundraising event called "Champions and Challengers" to be held at the School on Saturday 22nd March and you can take part by becoming a 'challenger'. All funds raised will go towards the Tennis Academy Travel Fund, supporting the team's travel to the World Schools Championships in Serbia, April 2025 and beyond!

  • How are we fundraising?

We're giving people the opportunity to become a 'challenger' and take on one of our Tennis Academy Champions over a 15-minute period on the tennis courts, where the aim is to try and score as many points against them as possible.  For every 15-minute period, challengers will be charged £20.00. When you book your place on the Trybooking website, you'll also have the opportunity to make an additional donation, should you wish to do so.

  • Do points make prizes?

Absolutely!   There will be prizes for the top points

  • Who this event is aimed at - who can take part?

Anyone can take part and become a 'challenger', boys, girls, mums, dads, brothers, sisters and grandparents of any age, but a minimal degree of fitness is required as you will need to be able to hit a tennis ball and run around a full-size tennis court for 15 minutes.  This event is for all members of the Ewell Castle School community, pupils/students, staff, governors, parents/guardians, Ewellians.

  • When and where is it taking place?

10am to 1pm on Saturday 22nd March 2025 at the Ewell Castle School Tennis Courts.  15 minute timed slots on 3 clay courts.  Court A, Court B and Court C.

  • Refreshments

A Cappuccino Van 'Cherry Picked Coffee" will be on site throughout the event selling barista quality coffee, tea, other hot drinks.

  • How to book your 15 minute playing slot

Please book your timed slot on Trybooking.com via this link https://www.trybooking.com/uk/EKQE  Book Your Place ASAP to get your time slot and avoid disappointment, as places are limited  We expect tickets to sell-out fast, so don't delay, book your time slot as soon as possible.

  • Dress code

Please wear suitable sports kit and trainers or tennis shoes.  Specialised tennis kit is not required.  The courts are artificial 'clay' courts.

  • Can spectators attend?

Yes, players can bring family and friends to help cheer them on.  Refreshments will be available to purchase from Cherry Picked Coffee.

  • Will the event be postponed due to poor weather?

The event will go ahead even if there is light rain.  If there is heavy rain forecast for the event duration, then a decision will be made at 8:00am that morning, and all participants who have booked to take part will be notified by telephone between 08:00am and 08:30am.  (We will call the telephone number that is provided on the trybooking.com booking form).   If the event is postponed due to poor weather, we will do our best endeavours to reschedule the event.  However, no monies will be refunded, (as this is a fundraising event) if the rescheduled date is not convenient for participants.
