Nursery and Reception (Pre-Prep)
Nursery and Reception (Early Years) - Please note our Nursery term dates and holidays follow the Pre Prep, Prep and and Senior School term dates.
We do not offer a full-time, year round nursery. Our Nursery follows the Ewell Castle School calendar year.
At Ewell Castle School we provide the very best in Early Years education, in line with the school’s aim to help every child to reach their full potential. Our beautiful state of the art Nursery and our main Georgian school building and grounds provide an attractive, secure and stimulating environment for our youngest pupils. Children can attend Nursery from the term in which they become three, providing they are fully toilet-trained. They start as “Caterpillars”, our younger group and progress to being a “Butterfly” before starting in Reception.
Our aim is to settle each child into a caring, stimulating and structured environment. The children learn to appreciate working with others, and working independently. They develop the relevant social skills of sharing, communicating and learning respect for others, as well as a natural curiosity and self confidence. The dedicated, experienced and well qualified staff provide a personalised learning environment that focuses on each child achieving their potential and which nurtures happy and confident children. At Chessington Lodge our landscaped gardens and playground area provide an attractive, secure and stimulating environment for our youngest pupils. Small classes enable the staff to give each child the level of attention to meet their needs in every aspect: artistic, academic and sport. Our open door policy at Ewell Castle results in a positive relationship between pupils, parents and staff.
We meet together most mornings for a short assembly in Nursery. Once a week, we have a special achievement assembly where the House Cup is presented and certificates given out to individuals who have made a particular effort, achievement or progress in a certain area. We also all meet together at lunchtime; and Chessington Lodge children sit with their friends and teachers to enjoy their packed lunches. Individual detailed records/pupil profiles are kept throughout the child’s time in EYFS, charting when Early Learning Goals are achieved, not only giving staff an accurate record of achievements but also highlighting next steps. Our communication with parents is a priority for us and is second to none.
