Weekly Forest School for Pupils in Nursery and Reception

Ewell Castle Forest School is situated within the beautiful large gardens and woods of Ewell Castle Prep School at Glyn House, a couple of minutes walk from our Nursery and Reception site at Chessington Lodge. We offer timetabled Forest School and outdoor learning sessions for Nursery and Reception pupils.  Sessions are run by qualified Forest School Leaders, who also have many years of experience teaching in the classroom setting.

Our exciting Forest School lessons offer the pupils the opportunity to discover and develop their own interests, as well as activities linked to their academic subjects. Pupils love to experience the outdoors through den building, cooking on campfires, team games, outdoor maths investigations, classroom science lessons in conjunction with open-air experiments. Each week, Forest school offers a new experience to the pupils as well as building on their individual interests.

We passionately believe that Forest school develops effective communication, the pupil’s capacity to adapt to changing situations and understanding how to take responsibility for themselves. Therefore, equipping pupils with a broad range of Life Skills to carry into adulthood.

We pride ourselves on our excellent pastoral care, and therefore every pupil at our Nursery and Reception attends Forests School weekly throughout the year.

We aim for our pupils to leave Forest School with resilience in life, a strong mental health and growth mindset.  Weekly Forest School for our Nursery and Reception gives our pupils the opportunity to; explore, climb, swing, balance, jump and stretch.
