We hope you had an enjoyable summer and we would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who volunteered to become an Old Ewellian University Buddy. It's still not too late if you want to take part, just get in touch.
Thank you also to Beverley Nip, who will shortly be going to university, for allowing us to reproduce one of her A Level Art pieces for this ebulletin.

Passing of Former Ewell Castle School Teacher - Phil Sutton
It is with sadness that we report the passing of former Ewell Castle School Games and History Teacher Phil Sutton, who died on 8th August following a long spell in hospital. A tribute to him as well as details of his funeral which will take place on 26th September can be found in our obituaries. Old Ewellians who knew Phil are welcome to attend his funeral, just email oldewellians@ewellcastle.co.uk as we are co-ordinating numbers on behalf of his family.
School News - 2018 GCSE and A Level Results
A Level Results: It's been another successful academic year at Ewell Castle School. We achieved a 99% pass rate at A Level and many of our students achieved their first choice university. The outstanding performances were from William Hadley who has been offered a place at Sommerville College Oxford to read Chemistry as well as Head Girl Margot Hiza who has an offer to study Medicine at the University of St Andrews. 76% of all A Level grades were A*-C, this being an 8% increase on the previous year. 46% of A Level grades were A*-B with the % of A* - A trebling over the last year.
Other students have offers which include the University of Exeter, London School of Economics, University of Warwick, the University of Bath and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
GCSE Results: 93% of Ewell Castle School pupils taking GCSEs this year achieved A*-C and 9-4 grades. Furthermore an impressive 96% of pupils achieved at least 5 A* to C or 9-4, including English and Mathematics.
