Mr. S D Bromley BA
Deputy Head and
Head of Sixth Form
The Sixth Form
Students join the Sixth Form from our Year 11 and from other schools, and they embark upon a challenging and stimulating academic programme of AS and A level courses, whilst enjoying significant status and roles within the school. Assimilation is normally rapid and easy, with newcomers being warmly welcomed during the induction programme. Close peer group and student/staff relationships are a feature of life at Ewell Castle.
An Enrichment programme incorporating sports & recreation, debating, careers programme, team building & leadership exercise, visiting speakers, debating and IT courses, complements the academic side of Sixth Form life. Our Sixth Formers are joined in this programme, as well as other aspects of Sixth Form life, by the girls of Greenacre School (Banstead).
Sixth formers enjoy their own social area and good study facilities at school. They also enjoy privileges in respect of attire and access to the village during the school day. Most important of all however, is the structured environment and the support in small teaching and tutor groups. This is a principle factor in ensuring continued academic success and also in securing placements to their first choice degree or other course, many at major UK universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.
With a maximum of 80 students in Years 12 and 13, there is a wonderful opportunity to participate and to succeed personally, but also to take a lead in an area of school life beyond the classroom assisting and mentoring other; within the school as Monitors and Prefects, within clubs as co-leaders and assistant coaches, at the Junior school as readers and learning mentors.
Ewellians are undoubtedly our best advertisement. They leave the school with self knowledge and are confident, articulate, socially at ease and highly capable of further success.
