2011 NPL Water Rockets Challenge
Team H2ROCKET represented Ewell Castle on Wednesday 15th June at the National Physical Laboratory's annual Schools Water Rocket Competition in Teddington. Facing stiff opposition from 35 other teams, Simeon Carter, Adam Gostelow, Robert Earland, Jun Ho Ryoo, Jun Sang Park and Jack Gumoes brought away 3 trophies for the school.

Lab testing complete for the day
Thanks must go to the assistants Adam Venables, Alasdair McPhail (doesn't he seem tall in these photos) and Priyank Patel (there were only six students allowed in each team) and to Mrs Scambler. They all made a full contribution to the day and brought much enthusiasm that helped the day go smoothly.
We all spent a great day launching rockets, chatting with Albert Einstein, Robert looked thoroughly at home in the Army helicopter, Adam G spent ages in the build the tallest rocket out of newspaper tent and we all carefully examined the world’s largest water rocket for hints.

Other Attractions
There was plenty to do other than launch our four rockets.

The Award Ceremony
After launching all our rockets the award ceremony arrived. We were very pleased to be awarded the Best Engineering award. The students in the Water Rocket Club spent two years developing T2O with its triple boosters and heavy load capacity front end. The launcher is a technical marvel made for us by Mr Bates and Mr Thompson of the DT department in their spare time last year. It can launch triple or single engined rockets at a variety of angles. Rockets are fuelled and pressurised on the launcher and it has an ingenious release mechanism. Thanks DT department.
