All instrumentalists are welcome to join to play various jazzy numbers, film music, old classics and sing-a-longs. Repertoire has included Frank Sinatra’s My Way, The Sound of Silence, Russian Gypsy Song, Jumpin’ at the Swing Train and a medley of songs from Phantom of the Opera. The band rehearse every Wednesday after school and perform as the finale act at the Lower School Recitals, at the school Fun Day and the Summer Review concert in July.

The Wind Orchestra perform and rehearse repertoire of a more classical genre. Recently they have performed a full Suite by J.S Bach, and various pieces by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Fauré and Beethoven . The group is designed to be a chamber ensemble made up of wind instruments who rehearse every Tuesday afternoon. The Wind Orchestra perform at the Upper School Recitals, the school Fun Day and the Summer Review.

Guitar Ensemble

The Guitar Ensemble consists of numerous guitarists from years 9-11, who get together every Thursday to practice repertoire of a more punk rock nature. Recently they have performed Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus and The Dandy Warhols’ Bohemian Like You at the Upper School Recitals.

Percussion Ensemble

The school boasts drummers galore! Various drummers from Years 7-10 contribute to the Percussion Ensemble run every Tuesday after school. Directed by our drum teacher Mr. Cook, students are encouraged to make as much noise as possible all in the name of music-making! African drumming and Samba rhythms are particularly popular on their repertoire list. The ensemble perform at the Lower School Recitals.

Beginner's Guitar Group

The beginner's guitar group caters for those who have just started to learn the guitar (acoustic or electric) and who wish to play as part of a group. All new-comers are welcome: no audition necessary! The group practice every Wednesday after school and perform at the Lower School Recitals.

School Choir
The Choir rehearse during lunchtime throughout the autumn term in preparation for the Wassail and the end of year Carol Service. All year 7 students are involved, in addition to GCSE and A-Level musicians, staff and anyone else who wishes to enjoy the festive spirit and frivolities!

Chamber Group

A newly established group, the Chamber Group consists of a select few members from Years 11, 12 and 13 who have reached a high standard on their individual instruments and enjoy playing as part of a small ensemble. Currently they are rehearsing in preparation for the Upper School Recital next term and thier GCSE and/or A-Level ensemble performances.
