Music is taught in all form groups at Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9, age 11-13 years). The subject is an option subject then at GCSE (KS4) and at AS/A level.
Formal recitals, Arts Week productions, band performances throughout the community and a Wassail are regularly scheduled. There are a significant number of music groups (eg. Jazz, swing & string) and activities offering opportunities beyond the curriculum.
Classes at KS3 are on average seventeen in number. Maximum groups sizes in this practical subject are limited at GCSE to approx. 10 students, and are typically four in number in the Sixth Form. Students are entered for AQA GCSE and OCR for AS/A level.
The faculty enjoys the use of two halls for performances, two designated teaching rooms, and practice rooms.
