Geography is taught in all form groups at Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9, age 11-13 years). The subject is an option subject then at GCSE (KS4) and at AS/A level.

Form sizes at KS3 average about eighteen, at GCSE and AS/A level option groups there are then typically twelve to eighteen and six respectively. Students are entered for AQA examinations at GCSE and at AS/A level.

The department has a designated rooms equipped with interactive whiteboards and other technologies.During Key Stage 3 students follow a curriculum covering all aspects of the National Curriculum but with extra and special emphasis on Geographical skills and the study of different cultures. In Year 9 students begin to study topics from the GCSE specification that are not covered later, in order to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the subject. The GCSE curriculum is contemporary and stimulating and gives students a deep understanding of the physical and human world we live in. Nearly half of our students achieve either an A* or an A grade at GCSE. The A level curriculum is an ideal platform for those who wish to take the subject further and in recent years many students have gone on to study Geography at universities such as Exeter, Aberystwyth and Loughborough that are in the top ten in the subject in the country.
